Safer E&P Operations Company (SEPOC) is the first ever national
pioneering oil and gas company in the Republic of Yemen to be legally assigned
to assume Block No. (18) Marib-Al-Jawf whose PSA expired on Nov 14, 2005. The
Company takes pride in its assumption of managing and operating this premier
petroleum block of Yemen in a highly efficient manner according to the good
practices of international petroleum industry. In just one year, SEPOC
succeeded in accomplishing its duties as the second biggest crude oil producer
in the Republic of Yemen conforming to the outlined plans. It overcame all
difficulties and hurdles it faced during a challenge-laden year, amidst bets
that SEPOC would fail to shoulder its responsibilities and cope with challenges
set in its way to be a failed national company. Nevertheless, the determination
of the political leadership headed by His Excellency President Ali Abdullah
Saleh manifested itself in moral and concrete support. There was also the
cooperation between the Ministry of Oil & Minerals and other concerned
governmental authorities. This gave us a great impetus to face up challenges,
execute our exploration and production plans and prepare evaluative studies of
the Block starting with the most significant and productive oil and gas field.
We are honored to see our modest efforts culminate in the discovery of oil,
condensates and gas in the newly discovered field - Wadi Saba. We must also
indicate other successes resulting in the discovery of oil in old fields
previously thought to be unimportant. I must not forget to praise the most
important wealth, SEPOC possesses, which is human resources who had been
marginalized for more than twenty years. However, they have been unleashed,
bearing heavy burdens over the past year. They asserted themselves by means of
training, confidence inculcation, appropriate guidance, and foreign experts and
proved to be able to live up to the level of international professionals. The
irrefutable proof can be found in the new oil discoveries and the distinguished
level of performance. At the end I would like to thank all those who had
participated in the initial steps of SEPOC and also thank those who will
participate in the future in order to support it.
