Safer E&P Operations Company was Established under the Laws of
The Republic of Yemen on March 23, 1997 as the national upstream oil and gas
company, empowered to carry out oil and gas exploration development and
production operations in the country, Safer headquartered in Sana’a, is a
wholly-owned entity of the Government of Yemen with an initial working Capital
of USD 150,000,000. On November 15, 2005, Safer assumed all upstream oil &
gas operations in Yemen’s premier Marib-Al-Jawf Block (18) as the sole
designated operator of this entire area. With a dedicated & professional
staff of about 1,200 Yemeni and expatriate petroleum workers, Safer is
organized to identify pursue, capture & evaluate all exploration concepts
in the Marib block by employing new explorations concepts, tests of new plays
and further exploration of established and/or mature plays. We apply
cost-effective technology, efficient operation management systems and the
ingenuity of our employees to maximize the commercial recovery and production
of hydrocarbons. Currently, Safer is producing about 70,000 barrels of crude
oil per day, 2.6 BCF of natural gas per day ( Most of which is re-injected),
20,000 barrels of C5+ per day and 22,000 barrels LPG per day from the 17
producing fields ( about 650 oil and gas wells) of the Marib Block 18. In
addition, Safer owns, operates and maintains a 440 Km (24 - 26 inches) crude
oil pipeline that transports not only Safer’s crude but also the crude of other
producers in the vicinity of our block from the Marib block to Ras Issa in the
Red Sea. Safer also owns, operates and maintains FSO SAFER, a floating oil
tanker that is anchored at Ras Issa, for the purpose of receiving , storing and
offloading crude oil to other oil tankers for export, FSO SAFER which is valued
at USD 70,000,000 has a total storage capacity of about 3,200,000 barrels of
crude.
