Executive General Manager Reviews Strategic Efforts to Sustain Operational Activities and Safeguard Critical Infrastructure Amid Current Challenges

As part of its continuous endeavors to enhance international cooperation and advance the national energy sector, Safer Exploration and Production Operations Company (SEPOC) received His Excellency Thomas Schneider, the German Ambassador to Yemen, and his accompanying diplomatic delegation at its headquarters in Marib Governorate.
A high-level official session of talks was held, chaired by the Executive General Manager of Safer, Mr. Salem Kaiti. The session was dedicated to discussing the current realities of the oil and gas sector, the exceptional challenges facing the operational environment, and exploring horizons for building integrated strategic partnerships that support sustainable development and meet the requirements of the current phase.
At the onset of the meeting, Mr. Salem Kaiti welcomed the German Ambassador’s visit, delivering a comprehensive technical presentation that highlighted the pivotal and ongoing role Safer plays as a fundamental cornerstone in securing energy supplies and meeting local market demands under various conditions.
The Executive General Manager also briefed the visiting delegation on the severe economic and technical repercussions resulting from the prolonged suspension of crude oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports. He shed light on the direct impact of these challenges on comprehensive routine maintenance programs and ambitious modernization projects. Concurrently, Mr. Kaiti emphasized that the company’s leadership, alongside its technical and engineering cadres, are exerting extraordinary and redoubled efforts—in accordance with the highest safety standards—to guarantee operational sustainability and protect the structural integrity of these vital facilities.
In the context of Safer’s strategic vision toward development and efficiency optimization, both sides discussed mechanisms for transferring and adopting advanced German technology and pioneering technical expertise in the energy sector. The discussions focused on means to enhance operational efficiency, reduce baseline costs, and keep pace with the global energy transition by studying the integration of clean energy technologies into the company's workflows. Furthermore, special attention was dedicated during the talks to specialized training and building the technical capabilities of the young Yemeni workforce, aligning them with best global practices and international standards.

For his part, the German Ambassador, Thomas Schneider, expressed his profound admiration and appreciation for the resilience of Safer’s leadership and personnel. He praised the high capacity and proven efficiency demonstrated by the company in maintaining production operations and facilities' readiness under highly complex circumstances. The Ambassador reaffirmed Germany's keenness to explore mutual technical support channels and development partnerships, thereby contributing to the support of the national economy and enhancing the pillars of stability and development in Yemen.
The meeting was attended from the German side by the Deputy Ambassador, Sophia Herzberg. From the Yemeni energy sector, it was attended by the Director General of the Yemen Gas Company, Eng. Mohsen Bin Waheet; the Deputy Executive General Manager of Safer, Eng. Ghaleb Mabkhout Ghaleb Mabkhot Maeli along with several technical executives and department managers from the company.
